"Trump vs Harris: Is Europe Safe?" is a one-hour long News Special scheduled to air on the US Election day, November 5th, 2024. The program examines the impact of a Trump or a Harris presidency on Europe today – Russian aggression in Ukraine, the directions of the conflict, dangers of a wider escalation, Putin's calculations, changes in the US electorate and its impact on policy, a “peace” deal and European/NATO cohesion itself.
Across the US and UK, Executive Producer John Florescu interviewed Ambassador John Bolton, Donald Trump’s National Security Advisor; Dr Richard Haass, President Emeritus of the Council on Foreign Relations; General Wesley Clark, Former NATO Supreme Allied Commander; Historian Niall Ferguson and Major General Paul Hurmuz, a top former Intelligence official at NATO. The interviews were conducted from mid-September till late October 2024.
The program also includes a profile of Kamala Harris drawn from individuals who knew her as she ascended rapidly in California politics. This section includes taped interviews with her first boss and top political editors in San Francisco.
In respect to European security going forward and the war in Ukraine, the programs guests argue that both candidates have ill-defined or unclear plans to resolve a European war that is dividing both Europe and the American public.
