The Romanian Red Cross

Founded in 1876, The Romanian Red Cross, a member of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, is deeply committed to preventing and assisting the suffering of people in all circumstances, in times of peace and war.

Each year, people benefit from the support of the Romanian Red Cross through its 47 branches, in the interventions supported by the 7,314 volunteers active in disaster/crisis preparedness and intervention projects, as well as in humanitarian assistance actions for vulnerable people and marginalized communities. According to its stated mission, the Romanian Red Cross contributes to the prevention and alleviation of suffering in all its forms, protects health and life, promotes respect for human dignity, without any discrimination based on nationality, race, sex, religion, age, social or political affiliation. The Romanian Red Cross provides services to the underprivileged, including Romanians, refugees, and migrants living in Romania, in the following fields: disaster response, first aid, social programs, health education, migration, family reunification and international humanitarian law. Millions of lives have been transformed by the initiatives and programs of The Romanian Red Cross, through humanitarian partnerships with the business sector, such as Food Bank, Health Caravan, and EGAL Centers, and they continue to do so with trustworthy partners.
